Sliding Doors

Our studio is three rooms in an old school. My room had built-in cubbies that are 4’x4’. I had draped a canvas over them, but my woodworker was not impressed. Real barn doors are expensive, and the floor is uneven. But he set to work and with 1×4”s and thin plywood and I now have closed storage. The warm rose color was the color of the plywood, and I refused to paint it. One of the most important tools for an artist is a “room of their own”. It must be a space that draws you in to work, or just think. It has to be inviting like a Hobbit hole, not a cold dark hole.
