I like to paint on big canvases, and my room is 20’x30’. We made this wall easel that is 6’x6’. The easel uses a French Cleat system. Each cross piece makes up half of a French cleat. I have several of the opposites, of various lengths. We have a table saw that will rip a board into 2 pieces with 45 degree angles. It sounds complex so look up how to make French cleats. They are extremely useful, so make several while you are at it. Abstract paintings need to be attended to by turning and avoiding “the bottom”. Sometimes I need help turning the large canvases, but since I work in acrylics, it is a reasonable thing to do. In the woodshop many tools and jigs are hung on French cleats.
